Frequently Asked Questions
Everything You Need to Know
Leaving your pet with a stranger is never an easy decision, and I’m sure you have a lot of questions about how it works. We’ve compiled some of the most common questions into the list below. If you want further information, just get in touch.
How long will the services take?
Depending on what you book in for, the time it takes will vary. As a general rule, always allow at least 2 hours, but it may take up to 4 hours depending on how busy we are, and how your pooch tolerates the grooming process. We always try to get our oldies and sensitive dogs done as quickly as we can. If you are working on a schedule and need your pup back at a certain time, just let us know at the time of booking and we will work with you!
Do you offer dematting?
At GlamPet, we believe in offering a service that is comfortable and safe for your dog. For this reason, we do not offer dematting services. Dematting is very painful and dangerous for your dog.
Please be aware that if your dog comes in for a service and is matted, we will shave out the matts as this is in the best interests of the dog.
Do you offer cat grooming?
We do offer cat grooming! GlamPet works together with GPVet, our on site vet, and therefore we are able to offer cat grooming! Call for more information and a quote.
Can we assist with behavioural issues?
Yes we sure can! GlamPet works together with GPVet, our on site vet to offer different solutions for our anxious pups.
Do you have a dog who has behavioural issues and/or severe matting?
For dogs who have more challenging behaviours and grooming requirements one of our vets can assist. A consultation may be required to assess the skin condition and behaviour. In some cases, medication to ensure a fear free visit may be required. Our team will then work to ensure your dog is as comfortable as possible throughout their appointment.
What age can I bring my puppy in for the first groom?
Puppies can and should come in for their puppy groom when they have finished their initial vaccination schedule (usually between 12-16 weeks old). It is a good idea to get your puppy in as soon as possible so that we can desensitise them to the grooming process. It is very important for puppies to be properly socialised and comfortable with all the sights, sounds and smells of the grooming salon so that they do not become fearful of this very important process. They will need to be groomed ~every 8 weeks for their whole life, so it is important not to stress them on their first groom. For this reason, your puppy's first groom will be dependent on how they react. We aim to give them a bath and blow-dry, a tidy up of their face, feet and hygiene areas, as well as a good brush. We will do as much of this as your puppy is comfortable with, and will not subject them to a full groom on their first try.
